   in crisis get through the worst of
   times and begin to rebuild their lives

Energy Assistance
   The Low Income Home Energy    Assistance Program (LIHEAP) assists    low-income families in offsetting the    increased cost of energy for winter    home heating.     

   

   Emergency Assistance
   This is a crisis intervention service    which assists individuals and families    with utility bills, food, homeless    prevention and work retention.



   USDA Surplus Commodity (TEFAP)
   The Emergency Food Assistance
   Program porvides low income    households with USDA commodities    four times per program year.



   Emergency Food and
   Shelter Program

   This program is desigend to assist low    income families in obtaining food,    shelter, and utilities assistance for a 7    to 30 day period. This program is not    offered in Muscogee County.



    Weatherization Program
    This program provides minor housing     renovation repairs to help with     increasing costs of energy for low     income families. This program     assist approximately 150 households     per program year.
 
    
    


 
 HEAD START


Head Start
is the national school readiness program.  It provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition and parent involvement
services to low-income children,
between the ages of 3 to 5, and
their families.

Program features include:

Education – The educational services are designed to meet each child’s individual needs and to promote positive outcomes.

Mental Health/Disabilities – Head Start focuses on promoting positive self-worth, respect for individual differences and the ability to develop appropriate
social skills.

Health – Head Start staff collaborate with families to ensure that children are healthy and up to date on well-child schedules, to include immunizations.

Nutrition – Children receive healthy meals.  Parents also learn how to select healthy foods and prepare well-balanced meals for their entire family.

Parent Involvement – A very important part of every Head Start program is the involvement of parents in parent education, program planning and operation activities.  Many serve as members of the Policy Council and have a voice in administrative and managerial decisions.


Social Services
–
Family Service staff help families meet their needs through community outreach, referrals, family assessments, providing information about available community resources and how to use them, and emergency assistance and/or crisis intervention.

Health Services

Head Start takes a holistic approach in addressing the needs of families.
It distinguishes itself from other childcare and preschool alternatives by ensuring that each child is given ongoing and accessible health care at no cost to the family.


Fatherhood/Male Involvement
This initiative provides opportunities and encouragement for fathers to become involved in their children's
life and education.


Community Partnerships

Enrichment Services Program, Inc.
takes an  active role in community planning to encourages strong communication and cooperation among neighborhoods to improve the delivery of services to children and families.
